Woman questioned over possible links to Moroccan suspect and web page dedicated to weapons training and Milan synagogue
A 40-year-old woman has been arrested in London by a British counter-terrorism team liaising with investigators in Milan.
The arrest is understood to be linked with Italian police arresting a 20-year-old Moroccan suspected of having a Facebook page dedicated to weapons training and mapping the area around Milan's main synagogue.
Detectives in London and Italian authorities are trying to establish whether there is any link between the suspects. The woman was questioned as searches continued at her south London address on Thursday.
A Metropolitan police spokesman said: "At about 4.30am ... officers from the [Met] counter-terrorism command arrested a 40-year-old woman on suspicion of offences under Section 58 of the Terrorism Act 2000.
"She was arrested in south London and taken to a local police station where she remains in custody.
"A search warrant was executed at a residential premises in connection with the arrest and is ongoing."
